Bill to Turn Entire State into ‘Gun Rights Sanctuary’ by Nullifying Federal Gun Control Laws

A revolutionary bill proposed by Texas lawmakers would nullify federal gun control laws—across the state—turning Texas into a gun rights sanctuary.

AUSTIN, Texas (TAC) – A bill filed in the Texas Senate would set the foundation to nullify federal gun control in practice and effect.

Sen. Bob Hall (R-Edgewood) filed Senate Bill 378 (SB378) on January 17. The bill would prohibit any state government agency, personnel or public funds from enforcing any federal gun control regulation or law “if the federal statute, order, rule, or regulation or international law imposes a prohibition, restriction, or other regulation, such as a capacity, size, or configuration limitation, that does not exist under the laws of this state.”

State agencies and local governments would not be allowed to receive state grant money if they adopt any regulation that requires enforcement of federal gun control laws that do not mirror in state law. A person in the affected jurisdiction would be permitted to file a lawsuit with the state attorney general.

There is also a provision that stipulates the attorney general must defend any state agency or local government sued by the feds for not enforcing federal gun laws.

Last week, the House Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee held a hearing on a similar bill, House Bill 238.

The federal government relies heavily on state cooperation to implement and enforce almost all of its laws, regulations and acts – including gun control. By simply withdrawing this necessary cooperation, states can nullify in effect many federal actions. As noted by the National Governor’s Association during the partial government shutdown of 2013, “states are partners with the federal government on most federal programs.”

Based on James Madison’s advice for states and individuals in Federalist #46, a “refusal to cooperate with officers of the Union” represents an extremely effective method to bring down federal gun control measures because most enforcement actions rely on help, support and leadership from the states.

Fox News senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano agreed. In a televised discussion on the issue, he noted that a single state taking this step would make federal gun laws “nearly impossible” to enforce.

“Partnerships don’t work too well when half the team quits,” said Michael Boldin of the Tenth Amendment Center. “By withdrawing all resources and participation in federal gun control schemes, the states can effectively bring them down.”

Boldin also noted how the same strategy is being used effectively elsewhere.

“No one – and I mean no one – is arguing that immigration sanctuary cities aren’t having an effect on federal immigration law. This bill in Texas uses the same approach of withdrawing resources and enforcement support, but it takes on federal gun control,” he said. “More conservative states should do the exact same thing.”

SB378 represents a strategic, yet powerful step forward. If it passes into law, gun rights activists should then direct their strategy and resources towards repealing state restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms. Every repeal would then include an immediate ban on resources for enforcement of any similar federal law or regulation.

Democrats Delay Vote On Anti-Semitism Resolution To Include Islamophobia, Other Forms Of Bigotry

Democrats in the House of Representatives delayed a vote on a resolution that would condemn anti-Semitism following repeated comments from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

Democratic leadership had planned for the vote to take place this week, The Daily Wire’s Emily Zanotti reported previously, but it has since been delayed so that it calls out more than anti-Semitism, further insulating Omar from criticism rather than calling out her bigotry.

The text of the original resolution didn’t even name Omar or her colleague Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), or their supporter Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and was a “purely symbolic and toothless resolution,” according to The Daily Wire’s Josh Hammer. The original resolution did, however, include a section about specific anti-Semitic phrases such as “the myth of dual loyalty,” which Omar has repeatedly espoused.

Now the Left wants to water down the bill so that it is not a direct shot at the blatant anti-Semites in their ranks. The vote was supposed to take place Wednesday, but now may be pushed back to Thursday or beyond.

“The language is being put together now, and you’ll see it when we have it finished,” House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told reporters, according to Roll Call. Other members of House Democratic leadership told reporters about changes being made to the resolution. Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) said he thinks “they’re going to circulate a revised draft that talks about other forms of religious bigotry.” House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) said he wanted to broaden the resolution to be “ant-hate.”

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), claimed Democrats stand “strong against anti-Semitism” and “against racism.” Yet, they can barely even call out their own anti-Semitic members and keeps them on important committees.

Omar, after facing a backlash weeks ago for suggesting Republicans take their marching orders from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and its money, doubled down on her bigotry by saying last week, “I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is okay to push for allegiance to a foreign country.”

This caused Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY) to release a statement condemning Omar’s remarks. Previously, Pelosi and other members of Democratic House leadership had claimed, “Anti-Semitism must be called out, confronted and condemned wherever it is encountered, without exception.”

Apparently, there is an exception: When the person making the anti-Semitic remarks is one of the first Muslims elected to congress. Democrats want the anti-Semitism resolution updated because Omar has received Islamophobic remarks because of her religion. But Omar has received those comments from colleagues in the House. The point of the anti-Semitism resolution was to condemn it among members of the legislature. At least, that’s what the point seemed to be.

While Republicans wanted a stronger condemnation of Omar’s remarks, Democrats were able to force a change in the resolution that waters down Omar’s offensive statement and essentially protects her from any retribution from her own party. The party that “stands strong against anti-Semitism,” indeed.

“The number of migrant families crossing the southwest border has once again broken records, with unauthorized entries nearly doubling what they were a year ago, suggesting that the Trump administration’s aggressive policies have not discouraged new migration to the United States,” the Times reports.

“More than 76,000 migrants crossed the border without authorization in February, an 11-year high and a strong sign that stepped-up prosecutions, new controls on asylum and harsher detention policies have not reversed what remains a powerful lure for thousands of families fleeing violence and poverty.”

What the corrupt establishment media are doing here is pretty obvious…

When Trump accurately informs the public about a “crisis” along our southern border, the media brand him a liar, which gives Democrats the cover they desire to not give Trump the resources he needs to contain the crisis.

Then, as the crisis worsens, the Times gleefully reports on how out of control everything is, how Trump is not able to stop of the flow of illegal immigration.

Right-wing populist Estonian Conservative People’s Party surges in general election

The bullies in Brussels are shaking in their boots once more as yet another national populist party, this time the Estonian Conservative People’s Party (EKRE), made significant gains in a national general election.

Preliminary results from the completed ballot count of Estonian’s general election revealed that the center-right Reform Party received 28.8 per cent of the vote, while the senior partner in the governing coalition, the Center Party, garnered 23.1 per cent of the vote.

The national populist Estonian Conservative People’s Party (EKRE) took 17.8 per cent of the vote, which is more than twice the votes that it received in the previous election. EKRE now holds 19 seats in the 101-seat Riigikogu, and represents the third largest party in the country.

This comes just three months ahead of the European Parliamentary elections when voters across the continent will head to the polls to elect representatives in the EU parliament. Across Europe, nationalist and populist parties have made significant electoral gains in recent years.

National populist parties have now taken hold of political power in Italy, Austria, Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic, while in others countries like Germany and France, they have become the primary opposition voice. Those who have yet to gain a political foothold have forced centrist leaders to veer to the right.

Meanwhile, the pro-globalist factions inside of the European Union are doing everything in their power to stave off the relentless surge of populist nationalist sentiments sweeping across the continent.

The leader of the EKRE’s faction in parliament, Martin Helme, asserted that he sees EKRE’s significant gains as entirely in-line with political trends in Europe and across the globe. “I think Estonia is no different than almost all other countries in Europe, where there’s a serious public demand for political parties who will stand up against the globalist agenda and the ever-increasing movement of power from (EU) member states to Brussels”, he said.

Similarly to what establishment parties promised after the populist Sweden Democrats rose to the third largest party in 2018, the two leading centrist parties in Estonia have both stated that they will not form a coalition with EKRE as a partner. Both have said that populists have no place in the Estonian government.

EKRE’s chairman Mart Helme hasn’t ruled out the idea. In an interview with the Associated Press at the party’s election event in Tallinn, the Capital’s Old Town, he said, “Yes, of course, we would like to be in the coalition because every party wants to carry out its promises and program.”

Estonia has just over 1.3 million people living inside of its borders. The election saw a voter turnout of around 63.1 per cent, a figure slightly lower than 2015’s turn-out.

Syrian Army Strikes Terrorist Stronghold In Northwestern Idlib For First Time In Months

For the first time in more than five months, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a barrage of heavy rockets at terrorist positions inside the city of Jisr al-Shughur in the northwestern part of Idlib on March 6.

A coalition of al-Qaeda-affiliated groups and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) captured this city in June 2015 after weeks of clashes with the SAA. Back then, the al-Nusra Front killed or expelled most of the locals and blew up their houses as a punishment for their support to the government.

Later, al-Nusra [now known as Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham] allowed the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) to settle in the city. Thousands of foreign terrorists and their families are currently living there, almost with no Syrian presence.

The SAA halted its attacks on Jisr al-Shughur under the Russian-Turkish demilitarized zone agreement, which was reached last September. However, the TIP didn’t respect the agreement. It continued to expand its presence within the city under the eyes of Turkish forces who established an observation post in a nearby area.

The new rocket attack on Jisr al-Shughur was reportedly a response to the terrorists’ shelling on the town of Jurin in northwestern Hama. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the shelling killed a child and injured four other civilians.

Local observers believe that the SAA will expand its attacks within Idlib further in the upcoming days. Some sources even reported that a military operation is being prepared. However, this is yet to be confirmed.

Tlaib plans to file impeachment resolution against Trump

Freshman U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Detroit, said Wednesday she plans to file a resolution this month to start impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump, calling him "dangerous to our American democracy."

"I can't wait to be able to file this resolution because I think a transparent and open investigation into the president's dealings is important," Tlaib said, surrounded by 20 impeachment activists in her Capitol Hill office. 

Tlaib has long called for Trump's impeachment and made national headlines hours after her January swearing in by issuing a profane cry at a Washington party to "impeach the mother (expletive)."

But Democratic House leaders have generally said it's too soon, urging members to wait on the findings of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation. Tlaib indicated she's not waiting. 

"There is a sense of urgency on my part and many of us," she said.

Brennan: ‘I Wouldn’t Be Surprised’ if More Mueller Indictments Come on Friday

Tuesday on MSNBC’s “The Last Word,” former CIA Director John Brennan, who is also an MSNBC contributor, said he “wouldn’t be surprised” if more indictments were to come out of the Department of Justice probe headed up by former FBI Director Robert Mueller on Friday.

Brennan, who caveated his remarks by noting he had not inside knowledge, observed the second anniversary of the probe was coming up, which could mean the end of the probe was near. He also pointed out that indictments tend to come on Fridays, and that he didn’t think Mueller would hand anything down on March 15, which is the next Friday.

Based on that, he said this Friday could be the day for more indictments.

LAWRENCE O’DONNELL, MSNBC HOST ‘LAST WORD’: Are you one who’s willing to, at this stage of the game, venture a guess about where Robert Mueller is and isn’t in this process and how close he is to filing a report? And beyond that, what would you would expect from such a report?

BRENNAN: I think Robert Mueller wants to be able to conclude his work and turn over the investigative threads to the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of Virginia, and other jurisdictions as appropriate as we’re coming up to two years. So I think he does want to conclude that.

I wouldn’t be surprised if for example this week on Friday, not knowing anything about it, but Friday is the day the grand jury indictments come down, and also this Friday is better than next Friday because next Friday is the 15th of March, which is the Ides of March. And I don’t think Robert Mueller will want to have that dramatic flair of the Ides of March when he is going to be delivering what I think are going to be are his indictments, the final indictments as well the report he gives to the Attorney General.

O’DONNELL: What makes you believe that he has more indictments?

BRENNAN: Because he hasn’t addressed the issues related to criminal conspiracy as well as individuals —

O’DONNELL: A criminal conspiracy involving the Russians?

BRENNAN: Yes. I think it was very —

O’DONNELL: That’s an area you know something about. That was developing while you were still on the job.

BRENNAN: I thought at the time there was going to be individuals who were going to have issues with the Department of Justice. Yes. And I think we’ve already seen a number of individuals who have been indicted, either have pled guilty or have been convicted now.

So again, I don’t have any inside knowledge. I’m not talking with anybody in the special counsel’s office.

O’DONNELL: Yes, you do. You have the inside knowledge of what began it all.

BRENNAN: Not about the status of the investigation now but I do think also if anybody from the Trump family, extended family is going to be indicted, it would be the final act of Mueller’s investigation because Bob Muller and his team knows if he were to do something, indicting a Trump family member or if he were to go forward with indictment on criminal conspiracy involving U.S. persons, that would be that would basically be the death knell of the special counsel’s office because I don’t believe Donald Trump would allow Bob Mueller to continue in the aftermath of those types of actions.

These are the allegations of an extraordinary memo currently being circulated feverishly on social media.

To me, it smacks of a conspiracy theory to rank with those stories about the clandestine Establishment plot to murder Princess Diana.

But the fact that people seem ready to believe it speaks volumes about the state of distrust between May’s Remainer political establishment and the Brexit voting electorate. May and her Civil Servants have handled Brexit so very, very badly that for some Brexiteers the only plausible explanation is not cock-up but outright treachery.

The memo was originally published, briefly, at the website of the Eurosceptic Bruges Group. Then quickly taken down.

Now AltNews Media has re-published it here with a disclaimer that it cannot vouch for the memo’s accuracy.

It claims:

On Monday July 9th 2018, several leading French, German and Dutch senior managers were called by EU officials to an urgent meeting.

The meeting was said to be private and those present were informed that Prime Minister May and Chancellor Merkel had reached an Agreement over Brexit. Knowledge of this was attained from the actual transcript of the meeting between May and Merkel.

1) The Agreement was couched in a way to ‘appease’ the Brexit voters.

2) The Agreement would enable May to get rid of those people in her party who were against progress and unity in the EU.

3) Both Merkel and May agreed that the likely course of events would be that UK would re-join the EU in full at some time after the next general election.

4) May agreed to keep as many EU laws and institutions as she could despite the current groundswell of ‘anti-EU hysteria’ in Britain (May’s own words, apparently.)

5) Merkel and May agreed that the only realistic future for the UK was within the EU.

The original Agreement draft was completed in May 2018 in Berlin and then sent to the UK Government Cabinet Office marked ‘Secret’.

A spokesman for the Bruges Group told me that it still stands by the claims but that it had never meant to publish them in memo form. A fuller, better-supported version of the article will go up shortly, I am told.

The author of the memo is John Petley, who for many years worked for the small, cross-party Eurosceptic campaign group Campaign for Independent Britain.

Petley told me he had got the information from an impeccable source which had proved extremely reliable in the past about other matters. “I’m not a conspiracy theorist,” he said.

He said that there were a number things that appeared to back up the claims in his memo. Some of the wording in the Withdrawal Agreement – though he could not specify which – read as if it had been translated into English from German. He is also mystified by some of the concessions made in the Withdrawal Agreement, such as Britain’s support for an integrated European army – something which before 2016 it had opposed on the grounds that NATO already served this function.

U-Turn Completed, Trump Is Now “100%” With Keeping U.S. Forces In Syria

Less than three months after ordering the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Syria, President Donald Trump wrote to Senators and Representatives that he now agrees “100%” with keeping a military presence in the war-torn country.

On February 22, a bipartisan group of Senators and Representatives wrote to Trump wrote him a letter on this issue. The letter supported Trump’s recent decision to keep some U.S. military units in Syria as a part of a multination force.

“We support a small American stabilizing force in Syria … Which includes a small contingent of American troops and ground forces from our European allies, is essential to ensure stability and prevent the return of ISIS,” the letter reads.

“I agree 100%. ALL is being done,” President Trump responded, writing directly on the letter and signing it, according to a report released by the NBC News on March 5.

In the letter, the Congressmen set three main goals for the U.S. in Syria, which are ensuring that all of the gains US-made in Syria are not lost, that ISIS never returns, ensuring that Iran is not emboldened in Syria, and ensuring the best outcome in Geneva for the U.S. interests.

Trump’s U-turn was not a surprise by any means. Senior officials in Moscow and Damascus doubted his ability to carry on with the withdrawal decision on several occasions, specially when he faced a backlash from the mainstream media and officials within his own administration.

This new shift in Trump’s policy on Syria will likely effect the US relations with Turkey. Ankara was planning to launch a military operation against Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria following the supposed withdrawal of U.S. forces. Trump’s new decision has effectively put an end to this plan.
