Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), also known as human herpesvirus 4, is a member of the herpes virus family. It is one of the most common human viruses. EBV is found all over the world. Most people get infected with EBV at some point in their lives.

It is believed that between 25 to 78 percent (a wide range and depends on geographical locations) of people in various countries are infected and are carriers of this herpes virus which normally remains dormant.

Typically symptoms of a person infected with EBV are usually fever, sore throats and sometimes dry coughs along with gastrointestinal issues as well.

From the research findings, Thailand Medical News wonders if somehow, the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that causes the COVOD-19 disease maybe somehow lowers an individual’s immunity, leading the Epstein-Barr virus to be reactivated and manifesting the symptoms.

Positive Epstein-Barr virus detection in corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients

Background Since December 2019, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) caused an outbreak of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Wuhan, China. The Objective of this study was to detect the EBV coinfection in COVID-19.

Methods In this retrospective single-center study, we included 67 patients with confirmed COVID-19 in Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University from January 9 to February 29, 2020. Patients were divided into EBV seropositive group and seronegative group according to the serological results of EBV, and the characteristics differences between the two groups were compared.

Results 67 COVID-19 patients were included in our study. The median age was 37 years, with 35 (52.2%) females. Among these COVID-19 patients, 37 (55.2%) patients were seropositive for EBV viral capsid antigen (VCA) IgM antibody. EBV seropositive COVID-19 patients had a 3.09-fold risk of having a fever symptom than EBV seronegative (95%CI, 1.11-8.56; P=0.03). C-reactive protein (CRP) (P=0.02) and the aspartate aminotransferase (AST) (P=0.04) in EBV seropositive COVID-19 patients were higher than that in EBV seronegative patients. EB seropositive patients had a higher portion of corticosteroid use than the EB seronegative patients (P=0.03).

Conclusions

Israeli companies hit by the coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis are eligible for loans and grants not only from local Israeli programs but also from the U.S. businesses aid program as well:

Any company that has operations in the U.S. and employs workers there can apply under the $2 trillion CARES Business Assistance Program that was passed at the end of March. The company does not have to be registered as an American company but only has to have a U.S. subsidiary that pays salaries to U.S. employees.

The most relevant clause for Israeli companies, and especially startups, is the eligibility for loans, some of which may transform into grants under the 7a section of the Small Business Administration plan. Under this section, a company that employs fewer than 500 employees can receive a loan of up to two and a half times the cost of wages paid to its employees up to a ceiling of $10 million. The loans, given at 1% interest rate and based on government collateral, are repayable within two years, with a six month grace period before payments are due. To top things off, the loan may turn into a grant if the company proves that the money received was used to pay salaries and prevented cutting salaries or terminating employees.

Under the auspices of the plan, $350 billion were earmarked for loans and grants to small businesses. Bank of America reported that as soon as the plan went into effect last Monday 177,000 businesses had applied for $32.6 billion in aid. JPMorgan said on Tuesday that it had received 375,000 requests for a cumulative $40 billion. Both these figures already make up a fifth of the program’s budget.

“In this program, it’s all about being first to the prize,” said Attorney Oz Halabi, a partner and head of the U.S. taxation department at the New York office of law firm Pearl Cohen Zedek Latzer Baratz and a former senior official at the Israel Tax Authority. “It is very important to submit applications as soon as possible and to understand that the program is relevant to 99% of Israeli startups,” he added in a conversation with Calcalist on Sunday. “True, there are details that are still unclear, but it is important to go ahead and fill out the forms. Trump himself operates as if he was running a startup: first throwing out an idea and then thinking and formulating the details”. Halabi explains that the $350 billion set aside for the program is not based on any calculation, but rather is simply a figure that was agreed on. Meanwhile, the U.S. Federal Reserve has also announced its own $600 billion loan program, but these loans are for larger companies and will not become grants…

“These days cash is king and every Israeli company that employs workers in the U.S. should have no reason not to apply,” Yifat Oron, CEO of LeumiTech, the bank’s technology arm, told Calcalist. “This is essentially a grant with which to pay salaries and that is significant.”

There can be little doubt that this loophole was intentionally put in the bailout agreement so that Israeli companies could take advantage of it, despite the fact that there are similar bailout programs already in Israel for Israeli companies.

The fact that virtually all Israeli start-up companies will qualify for this loan/grant money is well beyond coincidence.

And because these Israeli companies have insider help applying early, many of them will get this free money while actual American small business will not.

And the idea that the U.S. taxpayers are essentially subsidizing Israeli companies with virtually no strings attached shows us the depth of the parasitical relationship between Israel and the U.S.

Need we ask if any such program exists in Israel where foreign companies with subsidiaries in Israel will be given millions in free bailout money?

Technology and money flow only one way in this relationship and its from America to Israel. And if we’re lucky, Israel will allow us to buy back the technology we financed and engineered, such as the ‘Iron Dome’ missile systems.

And if you’ve got a problem with giving all this free money to Israeli companies, then you’re probably an ‘antisemite’ who will face jail time for daring to criticize Israel — if certain lawmakers and the ADL get their way.

• Find some common ground where they’ve already questioned the MSM narrative (JFK, RFK, Oswald, John John, Clintons, Clinton Foundation, Arkancides,

BHO/birth certificate, 9/11, Building 7, no video of plane hitting Pentagon, missing 2.3 trillion dollars, Halliburton, rigged primary election, MSM biases, Russian collusion, Fox News, CNN, etc.).

• Once common ground discovered, let them tell you everything they have learned about the topic. Even if you disagree, don’t say so.

• Once the topic is fully explored, compliment them on their knowledge and then ask if they think if it also ties to [blank]

• If they agree, do NOT “dump” on them with information you’ve already learned; ask them to dig into it and agree to speak about it in a week or so.

• During the second conversation,

• When stuck, offer to “switch sides” and debate the topic from their point of view and have them argue from your point of view. This often helps them talk themselves out of their original viewpoint.

• When you have to make a statement (instead of asking a question), open it with a “softening statement”: “Do you think it may be possible that …”, or, “I’m not sure this is right, but I just read that …” This provides possibilities for you and the other person.

• As often as possible, only discuss events that have already happened. When forced to discuss what you think MIGHT happen in the future, use softening statements first (see paragraph immediately above this one).

• Do NOT let the conversation turn into a Red vs. Blue argument. Keep repeating that there’s corruption on both sides of the aisle (point to the huge number of Republican resignations/not running for re-election for both senators and members of congress).

Keep the discussion focused on GOOD vs. EVIL!

• Final point: ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT IN EVERY SINGLE CONVERSATION, YOU ARE THE SECOND-BEST SALESPERSON! Get them talking, keep them talking and encourage their passion for digging!

• SHOW the other person that you’ve embraced the teachings of Jesus through your kindness, patience and lack of judgment of their ideas.

Think Introverted or Extroverted.

Visible cues the other person wants you to slow down (introverted behaviors):

Quiet. Cooperative. Doesn't interrupt. Drops eye contact. Slow to share what they're thinking. Speaks more softly than most others. They need time and space to digest.

Go slowly and let them think. Tell them upfront that they don't have to agree with anything, but you just want to give them a place for them to start researching when they're alone. Be softer and gentler than normal. Add lots of pregnant pauses while they "chew". Use questions.

Mike Howell is a stoner who lives in the sleepy town of Liman, West Virginia, where he works as a convenience store clerk. It is revealed he has had similar issues trying to leave town in the past and does not understand why Phoebe is so nice about it.

Yates sends two Toughguy operatives, Laugher and Crane, to kill Mike and Phoebe at the sheriff station, but they evade Laugher and kill Crane before escaping to the home of Mike's drug dealing friend Rose. Mike becomes unnerved by an array of facts he suddenly knows regarding military strategy. He also realises he has very little memory prior to living in the town with Phoebe, wondering aloud why he never questioned this before.

Yates places the city under quarantine, and puts Lasseter and Mike's pictures on the local news. Lasseter contacts her former assistant, Petey Douglas, to air drop her a weapon. Yates finds out and threatens Petey with charges of treason, causing Petey to deny her further help. Yates then attacks Rose's house with two Toughguys using a lethal gas. The agents kill Rose and his two guards, Big Harold and Wuinzin, before Mike and Phoebe kill the attackers and she rescues Mike from the gas, which she is familiar with. When pressed for answers on her knowledge of the gas, Phoebe reluctantly reveals she was a CIA agent assigned to be Mike's handler, leaving him heartbroken.

Laugher ambushes the duo and captures Phoebe. Mike is rescued by Lasseter and insists on returning to his house. She tells him that he volunteered for Wiseman due to his criminal record and subsequently had his memories erased. He also learns that Phoebe was to get him settled in Liman and then leave, but chose to stay because she genuinely fell in love. Lasseter also explains that his phobias, including his fear of leaving town, were implanted to keep him safe.

Yates’ army liaison, Otis, joins a Toughguy to attack Mike’s house. Mike and Lasseter kill them, prompting Yates to order a drone strike on the entire block. Petey launches the drone but eventually refuses to fire its missile, then secretly reports the situation to Yates' superior, Raymond Krueger.

Mike contacts Yates and arranges to exchange himself for Phoebe at a local grocery store. He attacks the store, killing or incapacitating multiple Toughguys before fighting and defeating Laugher, whom he spares when Mike learns he is a mentally unbalanced man forcibly conscripted by Yates. Phoebe escapes from Yates when Lasseter attacks him, but Krueger arrives and stops her.

Phoebe and Mike leave the store under gunpoint of multiple law enforcement officers, as he proposes to her.

In a forested area, Krueger has Yates and Lasseter bound and kneeling. Yates argues that what he was doing would have been okay with Krueger, despite the deaths of innocent people, if the results had been successful, and Krueger agrees. Yates, missing the "successful" codicil, smugly smiles and stands, but is executed by Krueger. Krueger admits he informed Lasseter of Yates’ plan, and she points out that, by taking out seventeen Toughguys, Mike is proof of the success of her Wiseman program.

Six months later, handled by Lasseter and Petey, Mike and Phoebe are in Manila, confident and happy together as they carry out a CIA assignment.

Chapter 3: Family / Friends / Coworkers

Changing someone’s mind is a challenge many of us confront. It’s especially sensitive when it comes to your family, friends, and co-workers with whom you would like to maintain your relationship with. In this series, we’re going to explore persuasion techniques that will hopefully change minds but keep those relationships you value most.

Trust Is The Key

If people don’t trust you, there’s no chance of opening their minds. If they do, it doesn’t mean you’ll persuade them, but they will listen.

Be friendly. Show that you like them. Only when they respond in friendly ways should you seek to change their minds.

Similarity and praise increase liking. If you show that you are like them in some way, they will like you in return.

When meeting people, you first greet them by smiling, shaking hands, etc. We might ask about their health and families. Why? Because this builds trust, which is a gateway to liking. In effect, we are saying ‘I like you and will not harm you, so please trust me’.

NOTE:

Don’t overdo it. Over-friendliness makes people uncomfortable and become suspicious of the intent.

Find Common Ground

You must figure out where they already have questions:

Example:

Once common ground is discovered, let them tell you everything they have learned about the topic. Even if you disagree, don’t say so. Do NOT dump information on them; Ask them to dig deeper and to come back when they have more info.

How To Approach Subsequent Conversations

Let them be the expert and teach you.

Keep playing dumb.

Praise them for their open-mindedness.

Encourage them to keep learning.

Ask them to learn about another topic that relates to this one and agree to speak again at a predetermined time. Then, let them teach you again, regardless about how much you already know about the topic.

NOTE:

Ask a LOT of questions, and allow them to “sell themselves” on new ideas.

Let Them Think They’re “An Expert”

People never argue with their own ideas, but they do subconsciously push back against other people’s ideas.

Always play dumb.

Ask for their help “solving a puzzle”.

If someone shares an idea that you believe is wrong/ignorant, do NOT push back; ask: “Help me see what you’re seeing” or “Help me understand that better” The more someone tries to explain something that has no basis, the higher the likelihood they will eventually change their own mind. (You can NOT do it for/to them)

NOTE:

Understand the deeper someone has dug into an opposing viewpoint, the farther they will snap into the other direction once they wake up.

Let Them Act Like A “Mentor/Teacher”

Once someone shows a thirst for new knowledge, invite them to share their ideas with a third person while you are also present.

“What do you think John would think? You should ask him.”

The more they view themselves as a mentor/teacher, the more this reinforces their new beliefs.

NOTE:

When stuck, offer people to switch sides and debate the topic from their point of view and have them argue from your point of view. This often helps people talk themselves out of their original viewpoint.

Softly Ease Into It

When you have to make a statement (instead of asking a question), open it with a softening statement:

“Do you think it may be possible that….” “I’m not sure this is right, but I just read that…”

This provides possibilities for you and the other person.

NOTE:

Whenever possible, only discuss events that have already happened. If forced to discuss what you think MIGHT happen in the future, use softening statements first.
