Trump Signs 9/11 First Responders Relief Bill

President Donald Trump signed a bill Monday that provides relief to victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

H.R.1327, or the “Never Forget the Heroes: James Zadroga, Ray Pfeifer, and Luis Alvarez Permanent Authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act,” provides full funding for the 9/11 victim compensation fund through 2092. The compensation fund provides for medical care and losses experienced by victims and first responders stemming from the deadly attacks, and is estimated to cost over $10 billion over the next ten years.

The president signed the bipartisan legislation during a special event in the Rose Garden, featuring the families of the bill’s namesakes, including their children, widows, parents, and siblings.

In written testimony to the House Intelligence Committee in May of 2017, Brennan claimed that he had briefed each member of the so-called Gang of Eight about “Russian attempts to interfere in the election” between August 11, 2016 and September 6, 2016.

And it wasn’t relegated to when we were speaking about a rape case. Wherever we were on the syllabus, he would bring it up.”

The second female student described Dershowitz this way: “He said, ‘Prostitutes know what they’re doing—they should be prosecuted. But you shouldn’t ruin the john’s life over that.’ If I had raised my hand to challenge that, I would have been singling myself out as—God forbid—a feminist.”

These anecdotes provide a backdrop for Dershowitz’s representation of Epstein, which, according to the New Yorker, is the only case of his career that he regrets. Baltimore law enforcement has launched an investigation into the cause of 11 fires that broke out in the city’s Edmondson Village neighborhood early Morning morning.

Two Israeli Crime Bosses Killed in Mexico City Turf War

Two Israeli crime bosses are the latest victims in a turf war as Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG) continues to expand operations throughout Mexico. Assassins killed the pair at an upscale shopping center in Mexico City.

The incident occurred last week at the Plaza Artz shopping center in Mexico City when a team of hitmen working for CJNG shot and killed 44-year-old Benjamin Yeshurun Satchi aka “Johnny Ben” and his associate, 41-year-old Alon Azulay. The hitman first targeted a security guard and a cop as a distraction before going after the two crime bosses inside a restaurant. They were shot several times. One of the victims died at the scene while the second passed soon after at a local hospital.

Mexican authorities arrested 33-year-old Esperanza Gutierrez, who initially claimed the murder was a crime of passion but later confessed to being a hitman for CJNG and collecting $5,000 pesos ($250) per kill, El Universal reported. The CJNG is one of Mexico’s most violent cartels currently carrying out a fierce territorial expansion campaign. CJNG was singled out by Mexican intelligence officials for their training, use of IEDs, and recruitment of Colombian terrorists from the FARC.

According to The Times of Israel, the episode may have been a revenge killing over Satchi’s numerous murders in Israel. Gabriel Regino, one of Mexico’s former top law enforcement officials, told Milenio Noticias that Satchi was trained by Mossad. Regino previously arrested Satchin 2005. At the time, Satchi allegedly came to Mexico to help provide security to Israeli businessmen but eventually established an extortion racket.

Both Satchi and Azulay were tied to organized crime in Mexico to include cocaine sales trade in upscale neighborhoods and underground weapons sales, authorities revealed.

Kayan Frazier, 27, of Somers Point, New Jersey, is charged by complaint with one count of producing visual depictions of a child engaged in sexually explicit conduct, one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography. Frazier is expected to appear this afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Karen M. Williams in Camden federal court.

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court:

After receiving a report of images of child sexual abuse distributed via Tumblr, law enforcement officers identified Frazier, who was then employed as a case worker at NJDCP&P, as the sender. On April 12, 2019, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office obtained a search warrant for Frazier’s residence and, while executing the warrant, observed Frazier in the company of a minor. Law enforcement officers recovered thousands of additional images of child pornography on Frazier’s cellular telephone and other electronic media, which included images of the minor at his residence.

Frazier was arrested on April 15, 2019, by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and charged with child endangerment, and has been detained without bail.

The receipt and distribution of child pornography offenses each carry a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison, a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison, and a $250,000 fine. The production of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, a maximum potential penalty of 30 years in prison, and a $250,000 fine.

In this context, the Israeli news site Ynet revealed on Tuesday, 23 July 2019, that over the past months, the Israeli forces have been trained along the Gaza Strip borders on a new sniper weapon.[2] This means that the Israeli military uses the protests of the Great March of Return as firing ranges to test its weapons, in clear disregard for the value of human life and in violation of international human rights law and international humanitarian law.

To this date, PCHR has documented 207 killings by Israel since the outbreak of the protests on 30 March 2018, including 44 children, 2 women, 9 persons with disabilities, 4 paramedics, and 2 journalists. Additionally, 13,323 were wounded, including 2,742 children, 409 women, 221 paramedics and 207 journalists. Among those wounded, PCHR documented cases where 196 persons have become with disabilities, including 28 children and 5 women, and were as follows: 149 amputees; 21 paralyzed, 26 blind or deaf and 9 sexually disabled.

US Anti-Drug Initiatives in Afghan: Another Dubious Expense

The US has spent more than $50 million on drug treatment programs in Afghanistan, but these programs are losing money and may not even be working, a new report has concluded.

The report, by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), makes clear how difficult it is to even begin to gauge the effectiveness of the programs.

“Overall, we just found that the State Department failed to create performance standards and requirements for these programs,” said Lauren Mick, public affairs specialist for SIGAR.

“We looked at the 41 programs, and we didn’t know how to measure progress,” she added. “It was difficult to draw conclusions on what they were supposed to achieve in the first place.”

Assessing Waste in Spending on Afghanistan

The report comes at a time when the government is reevaluating its mission to help stabilize dangerous areas in Afghanistan. This comes after the US already essentially wasted billions of dollars in Afghanistan between 2002 and 2017.

The new report will do nothing to alter that viewpoint, since the SIGAR study wasn’t able to determine the effectiveness of the millions of dollars the US has poured into drug treatment programs in Afghanistan over the past five years.
